I joined Stantec as an intern in May 2025 and moved into a full-time engineering role in June 2026 after completing my master’s degree. My responsibilities across this period include transportation analysis, model development, technical documentation, and coordination with project teams and agencies.
Traffic impact and operational analysis
- Support traffic impact analyses for commercial, residential, medical, and public-sector development projects across Florida.
- Prepare trip generation and distribution analyses using the ITE Trip Generation Manual and agency requirements.
- Develop and evaluate Synchro models for signalized and unsignalized intersections using traffic counts, geometry, lane configuration, traffic control, and signal timing.
- Assess level of service, control delay, queues, and capacity under existing, background, and future conditions, documenting inputs and assumptions for technical review.
Signal timing, corridors, and roundabouts
- Develop yellow, all-red, and minimum-green parameters using FHWA guidance and evaluate cycle lengths and phase splits in Synchro.
- Support corridor operations and access-modification analyses, including traffic redistribution associated with changes to median openings.
- Perform HCS roundabout analysis using forecast turning movements, peak-hour factors, heavy-vehicle percentages, and lane configurations.
- Perform roadway-segment LOS analysis using FDOT generalized service-volume methods and roadway, traffic, and adjustment-factor data.
Access management and parking
- Evaluate site access, driveway spacing, intersection operations, turn-lane needs, and signal warrant criteria under FDOT and municipal requirements.
- Prepare parking-demand analyses using ITE and Urban Land Institute methods, field occupancy information, and applicable local requirements.
- Review parking layouts, valet operations, internal circulation, accessible parking, and driveway access.
- Prepare FDOT District One pre-application materials and support direct coordination on project-development and access-management information.
Safety, documentation, and quality review
- Retrieve and compile multi-year crash data in Signal Four Analytics and review crash trends alongside roadway operating conditions.
- Support traffic-calming and roadway-safety evaluations through roadway inventories, location maps, traffic summaries, and exhibits.
- Prepare technical memoranda, transportation narratives, TIA exemption documentation, calculation summaries, report sections, and appendices.
- Support due diligence, feasibility assessments, data processing, mapping, and quality-control review of transportation studies.
